- 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Stir in the egg until combined.
- Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
- Toss chopped cherries with sugar in a bowl and spread over the crust evenly.
- Crumble the remaining crust mixture on top of the cherry layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing.
