Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar, divided
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. Sauté onions in a skillet over medium heat until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, sautéed onions and garlic, eggs, half of the balsamic vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and herbs. Mix gently until just combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into an even loaf in the prepared pan. Pour the remaining balsamic vinegar over the top.
  5. Bake for 60–70 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
