  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup crushed Oreos

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans and lightly dust with flour.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat sugar and vegetable oil until combined. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; blend until smooth.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix on low speed until just combined.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While cakes cool, prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar then stir in crushed Oreos.
  7. Once cooled, frost between layers and cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
