Description

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Warm milk in a saucepan until just warm. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in melted butter, salt, and half of the flour. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Mix chopped apples with sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter and sprinkle apple filling evenly.
  6. Roll tightly into a log, slice into 12 pieces, place in a greased baking dish, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
