Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted), plus more for brushing
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pistachios)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup sugar syrup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Gradually mix in bread flour and eggs until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (approximately 1-2 hours).
- While the dough rises, mix chopped nuts with cinnamon, nutmeg, melted butter, and sugar.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread the nut mixture evenly across it. Roll tightly from one long edge to form a log.
- Slice the log into even pieces (1-2 inches wide) and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Drizzle warm buns with honey syrup before serving.
