  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped finely
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a large baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onion for about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat these layers.
  4. Whisk milk with salt and pepper in a bowl, then pour evenly over the casserole.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
