- 2 lbs Russet potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (freshly grated)
- 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter; sauté onions for 5 minutes, then add garlic for another minute.
- In a bowl, combine heavy cream, salt, pepper, and half the cheddar cheese.
- Layer potato slices in the baking dish; pour half of the creamy mixture over the first layer. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cream mixture.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil during the last 15 minutes to brown the top.
