- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Shape the mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a baking sheet.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
- While cooking the meatballs, wrap the pitas in foil and warm them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes.
- For the tzatziki sauce, mix yogurt with grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- To assemble: fill each warm pita with meatballs and top with tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables.
