Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown on all sides.

  5. For the tzatziki sauce, mix yogurt with grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. To assemble: fill each warm pita with meatballs and top with tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables.
