  • 1 can (4 oz) sardines in olive oil, drained

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a large pot over high heat. Add salt until it tastes like the ocean.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup of cooking water before draining.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add sardines and red pepper flakes; gently mash with a fork until warmed through.
  5. Combine cooked spaghetti with the sardine mixture, parsley, and lemon zest. Toss well, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
