  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, instant yeast, salt, and herbs together. Gradually add warm water and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into four equal pieces. Roll each piece into circles about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Layer cheese between each circle as you stack them. Cut the stack into star points using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the top with olive oil or melted butter and sprinkle poppy seeds if desired.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
