Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 6 slices crispy bacon, crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 2 tbsp baking soda (for boiling)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and beaten eggs; mix into a sticky dough.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in an oiled bowl, covered with a damp cloth, for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare filling by mixing bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions in a bowl.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide into about ten pieces. Flatten each piece, add filling in the center, pinch closed securely, and shape into balls.
- Boil water mixed with baking soda in a pot; gently drop filled rolls into boiling water for about 30 seconds per side before transferring to a greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown.
