Perfect for brunch gatherings or cozy family breakfasts, these rolls offer endless possibilities for customization. With just a few simple ingredients and easy-to-follow steps, you can create these delightful rolls that impress at any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 slices crispy bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 tbsp baking soda (for boiling)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and beaten eggs; mix into a sticky dough.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in an oiled bowl, covered with a damp cloth, for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by mixing bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions in a bowl.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and divide into about ten pieces. Flatten each piece, add filling in the center, pinch closed securely, and shape into balls.
  6. Boil water mixed with baking soda in a pot; gently drop filled rolls into boiling water for about 30 seconds per side before transferring to a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown.
