  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, eggs, milk, melted butter, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Punch down the dough and roll out to about half an inch thick. Cut into donut shapes.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to about 350°F (175°C). Fry each donut for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. While warm, dip in powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze.
